The Culture of Knitting!

My new book came in the post today! I've only read a couple of pages so far, and it's quite a mouth full as it's an academic book. But it's very interesting! I suggest to anyone who is interested not only in the action of knitting but in the science and motives behind why people do it. It's all very interesting to me!

Colour!

This is a selection of yarns I'm using for my final major collection!! Lots of silks, recycled sari silk and ribbon and wools! I get the recycled sari silks from either ethnic crafts or knitting 4 fun which can be round on the Internet! It's very exciting! I can't wait to see what the samples turn out like when I start playing with them and mixing them all together!

Inspiration

The main inspiration for my final major collection based on tibetan nomads and ancient Chinese embroidery and patterns! The photo is taken from the book 'Miao textiles from china' by Gina Corrigan.
